As your Trusted Champion of Lung Health, we have also committed to fulfilling our promise of responsible recreation. Therefore, the American Lung Association and the Fight For Air Climb events will be moving outside.

With safety being our number one priority, we are continuing to monitor current CDC guidelines as well as state/local guidelines.

The safest environment for gathering is outside in the fresh air, and to create that safe environment, we will be:

  • Spatial distancing
  • Controlling flow and number of people on-site
  • Following strict site sanitation protocols throughout the day
  • There are 956 steps at Day Air Ballpark! 

    As a special addition to the climb, firefighters across Dayton are invited to participate in the Firefighter Challenge where they will compete against each other, GEAR OPTIONAL, as individuals or as a team. 

    The Challenge drives awareness about the lung health challenges many firefighters and first responders face, due to long-term exposure to smoke and air pollutants. Firefighters will compete in teams for the winning titles of the fastest fire department and top fundraising team.

    Thanks to our our Kidz Klimb sponsor, McAfee Heating and Air, we are excited to offer a unique climb experience, just for kids! The route includes climbing the 229 stairs of the lower level of Day Air Ballpark and running the bases! Keep a look out for all your favorite ballpark mascots too, to cheer you on and high five!

    The first 50 kids to register will receive FREE registration too! Just $10 after that and no minimum fundraising required. But, a suggested $25 fundraising goal is given, to encourage learning about philanthropy and raising awareness for lung health!

    To register, select the child's team or register as an individual then choose Kidz Klimb after logged in!

    TBD. You will receive an email link to the start times. You will also receive a "wave number".

    You will check in at the registration table. There will be no packet pick-up before the event, so please plan on arriving at least 30 minutes before your climb time. 

    If for some reason you cannot complete the climb, someone at the nearest water station can assist you.

    We are happy to help transfer you to our virtual Climb Your Way program. This virtual option allows you to climb your way at the time and location of your choosing while still supporting the Fight for Air Climb Dayton. Your registration fee will be converted to a tax-deductible donation. Once completed, you will not be eligible to reverse the process to climb in-person. To transfer to the virtual climb, please complete our Change Request Form.

    If you are looking to transfer your registration from the virtual Climb Your Way to In-Person at Day Air Ballpark, please complete our Change Request Form. If spots are available, you will be required to pay the $35 registration fee and hit the fundraising minimum of $100 by the fundraising deadline to be eligible to participate in-person.

    The minimum fundraising requirement is $100 per climber.

    Triple Climb Challenge Climbers have a minimum fundraising requirement of $250.

    Kidz Klimb participants do not have a minimum fundraising requirement, but a suggested $25 fundraising goal is given, to encourage learning about philanthropy and raising awareness for lung health!

    Climbers have until event day to raise the money and if, for some reason they haven’t met the minimum they will be asked to pay it before participating.

    Registered Volunteers are not required to fundraise, but are encouraged too in support of lung health! Thank you!

    The registration fee does not count toward the fundraising minimum. But don’t worry, we are here to help, and we have plenty of fundraising ideas and tips to get you started!

    The American Lung Association is dedicated, now more than ever, to providing you with the Climb experience you know and love. As your Trusted Champion of Lung Health, we are also committed to fulfilling our promise of responsible recreation. Therefore, the American Lung Association will continue to closely monitor public local health conditions and CDC guidelines. In order to appropriately protect our participants' well-being and the community at large, the American Lung Association reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or alter the 2022 Fight For Air Climb.

    Should the Fight For Air Climb be altered to be a virtual event, your registration will automatically transfer to virtual participation in our Climb Your Way program. Your registration fee, and any funds raised, will transfer with your registration. Participants who raise $100 or more will earn a Fight For Air Climb shirt. Raise $175 or more to qualify for an additional incentive item.

    If the Fight For Air Climb is canceled or postponed, funds raised will support the American Lung Association’s mission. You may request to transfer your registration fee to the next event date, but please note that registration fees are non-refundable.

    Climbing on a team is the best way to enjoy the event. The camaraderie of the shared endeavor is priceless, and it is way more fun reaching the top with friends and family cheering you on.

    To form a team, choose Register as Team Captain. Make sure you have a team name in mind: honor a loved one, make it fun or name it after your business — the sky’s the limit!

    After you register as a Team Captain, tell your team members to select Register as a Team Member and to search for your team name to join.
