Small Steps, Bold Strides

Join us and turn small steps into bold strides toward a world without lung cancer and lung disease.

Come out and experience the celebratory and welcoming atmosphere of a LUNG FORCE event.

It doesn't matter how you roll, whether you like to saunter, power-walk or stroll.  There's a Walk Your Way virtual option for those who can't make it to the event.

The LUNG FORCE Walk provides critical funds for lifesaving research, early detection initiatives, and awareness outreach to vulnerable communities.

2024 Medical Honoree Award

We are thrilled to grant Brown University’s Dr. Hina Khan our inaugural Medical Honoree Award for the 2024 Providence LUNG FORCE Walk. This award honors healthcare professionals with demonstrated experience related to lung cancer screening, prevention, treatment, or research in the state of Rhode Island.

Dr. Khan is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Brown University. She is a Thoracic Oncologist at the Lifespan Cancer Institute at Rhode Island and Miriam Hospitals in Providence, RI. Dr. Khan leads several clinical trials across all phases of drug development, in addition to her work in translational research in lung cancer. Dr. Khan also has a truly informed commitment to addressing and improving disparities within the lung cancer population. In Rhode Island, she has studied the burden of Radon exposure and its genomic imprints on lung cancer. She is identifying areas with significant exposure and studying ways to improve patient outcomes. She leads a comprehensive program of public education and nodule management to increase Lung Cancer Screening in the Underserved Populations of Rhode Island. She is a recipient of the Robert A. Winn/BMSF Diversity in Clinical Trials award to lead her project, working within the RI community to increasing lung cancer screening rates by implementing a community-based navigator program.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Khan and thanking her for her incredible work.

      Why We Need You

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths among women and men. Someone is diagnosed with lung cancer every two minutes and 14 seconds. 4 in 5 of those diagnosed will ultimately die of the disease.

      Why We're Hopeful

More Americans than ever are surviving lung cancer. The survival rate has increased by a dramatic 13% to 22.6% in the last 5 years. Your support will help us continue the progress in our efforts to defeat lung cancer.
