About Us

The American Lung Association is the leading organization dedicated to saving lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research.

Our non-profit organization provides support and education for those living with asthma, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and fighting threats to lung health such as tobacco, air pollution and more.

Your generous donations make our work possible. Our important lung health programs and focus areas include:

LUNG FORCE

A national movement led by the American Lung Association, LUNG FORCE unites women in the fight against lung cancer and for lung health. Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer of men and women in the United States. Together, we are a force to be reckoned with.

Lung Action Network

Our advocacy success is dependent on the engagement of knowledgeable and dedicated volunteers who participate with us in various campaigns. Make your voice heard on key issues that impact your lung health by taking a leading role in eliminating tobacco, cleaning up our air, or reducing the threat of climate change by joining the American Lung Association Action Network. Asthma Basics

An interactive online learning module designed to help people learn more about asthma and asthma management techniques, Asthma Basics is available for everyone - including school nurses, community health workers, individuals with asthma, parents of children with asthma, co-workers, and friends and family who want to learn more about the disease.

Better Breathers Clubs

Better Breathers Clubs are patient-centered and community-based educational support groups for those living with chronic lung disease and their caregivers. Clubs meet regularly and feature educational presentations on resources and support on better COPD and pulmonary fibrosis management.

Freedom From SmokingŪ

For more than 35 years, Freedom From SmokingŪ has helped hundreds of thousands of people to quit for good. A proven-effective program, Freedom From SmokingŪ is available online, through an in-person group clinic and self-guided workbook, and takes the user through the process of quitting smoking one step at a time.
