Tobacco Use and Pregnancy Training

The use of tobacco during pregnancy and post-partum have special considerations and opportunities for interventions.  This interactive training is designed for professionals that provide direct care and services to pregnant populations (before, during, and after pregnancy).

Objectives:

After the training participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the health effects of tobacco use, including e-cigarettes – with a focus on pregnant or post-partum mothers
  • Assess the readiness for change and provide “stage” appropriate actions
  • List the FDA approved tobacco dependence treatment medications including proper use, recommended dosage, and side effects
  • Identify additional tobacco dependence treatment resources and have the capacity to refer clients, if needed

By attending the Tobacco Use and Pregnancy Training, you are helping to make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by lung disease.

Tobacco refers specifically to the use of manufactured, commercial tobacco products, and not to the sacred, medicinal and traditional use of tobacco by American Indians and other groups.
