Climbing for Christine!
Chances are you know someone who has faced the challenges of asthma, COPD, lung cancer or air pollution. By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the American Lung Association provide community based education programs, fight for cleaner air standards and fund life-saving research. With your help, we will fight against lung disease and for lung health. We will be making a positive difference for all of the parents who have a child with asthma, the people who struggle daily with COPD and the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children and friends who get diagnosed with lung cancer.
On July 20, 2018 I lost my mother to COPD. For well over a decade, I watched my beautiful, energetic, adventurous and strong mother deteriorate from a disease for which there is no cure. Seeing someone you love go from riding horses, hiking, swimming and dancing to having difficulty breathing walking from the couch to the kitchen is extremely difficult. This was not the first time I watched a family member pass from a horrible incurable lung disease. My Great Grandmother also passed from COPD when I was a young 12 year old girl. I remember my Nana being so full of life and love and on my last visit with her I noticed that passion and love for life was gone. She checked herself out of her hospital and decided to pass in the comfort of her home. I also suffer from a lung illness. I was diagnosed with Severe Asthma at 35 years old, after two bouts of pneumonia and many battles with respiratory illness we finally found that I needed to be on a long term regiment of steroids and bronchodialators. As you can imagine exercise let alone climbing a mountain is quite taxing, however, I have fought my way back to having the ability to do what I love. I hike, I backpack and I have climbed many mountains, But I have never attempted to do what I am planning in July. I am asking for your assistance in making the biggest climb in honor of my mother, grandmother and to aid the American Lung Associations campaign for AIR. In July/August I will attempt to summit Mt. Baker, A volcano located in the North Cascades. It is 10781' in elevation, and requires technical skills to navigate glaciers. I hope that you will join me in donating anything you can to aid me in reaching the goal of $4000.00 to help an organization that is working to find cures and prevent lung disease. I will be training over the next 5 months and providing photos, video and updates of climbs, hikes and other training necessary to achieve this. This is an honor for me to have the ability to do this for my Mother, Great Grandmother, my family and for all of those who suffer with lung disease. On summit day I will take a piece of all of you with me on a banner that I will hold for my summit picture. The name of each donor, my mothers picture and the knowledge that I am doing the best I can to help stomp out lung disease will no doubt give the strength to be successful. Thank you for your donation and you can always watch updates here, at Montanahikinggal.com or Facebook Montana Hiking Gal . This will indeed be the greatest honor of my life.
Every donation I receive helps make a bigger impact. Please help support my effortst o save lives, donate now.
Together we can fight lung disease successfully!
I know I have been reaching out to all of you for donations for this amazing cause. As spring is here and we are all starting to clean out our homes before tossing that good crock-pot or even that dusty book shelf, give me a call. I am organizing a yard sale for May to help raise money for the climb. I will happily pick up any gently used, in good working order item in the Bellingham area. Thank you all for your support, donations and encouragement.
