Volunteer On Event Day
From lifesaving research to early detection initiatives and clean air advocacy, we work to give people with lung disease a fighting chance. Come participate in the fun while making a difference in the lives of those living with lung disease.
*Volunteers must be 14 years old to participate. Volunteers under the age of 18 must always be accompanied by an adult.
Register as a Volunteer
This event takes numerous hardworking and energetic volunteers to make every step count. To sign up as a Volunteer, please click the “Volunteer” tab at the top of our website. Select “Register as a Volunteer” and continue through the registration process. Our volunteer needs can accommodate volunteer groups or individuals. Yes, please! Organizing large events requires many hands to come together, and we encourage everyone to get involved with our Pre-Event Volunteer Opportunities! To learn more, please email Emma.Verlinden@Lung.org. In the weeks leading up to the event, more information will become available on specific volunteer projects and shifts.
Absolutely! We encourage volunteer teams to come together to support Climb Detroit. When registering as a Volunteer, please indicate either the name of the Team you would like to join or the name of the Team Captain. If you are unsure of the Team Captain, you can input a teammate and we can add you to their team. We do our best to ensure that teams can stick together in their roles, locations, and shifts during the event.
Yes, we can. If you have a large group of people you would like to recruit from, such as a large business or a university, you may want to share out a sign-up sheet to use. Use this template to collect the required information to register your volunteers, or share this sign-up sheet to pass out in meetings or classes. You can send this to Emma.Verlinden@Lung.org, who will help get your large team registered to volunteer.
Yes, you can! Feel free to reach out to the Development Team at EventsMI@Lung.org with your team’s name, and we can design custom flyers that promote your team and display a QR code directing individuals toward the registration page.

Help check that firefighters participating in the Firefighter Challenge have all their required gear and are wearing it correctly. This job does include some light activity.
