Firefighter Challenge FAQs
An Elite Firefighter is climbing at a running pace and usually trying to set a personal record.
- Men: Between 7:17 and 10:11
- Women: between 9:15 and 12:57
It is easier to sign up as an Elite Firefighter and on event day to drop down to Firefighter Full Gear than it is to move from Firefighter Full Gear to Elite Firefighter.
The only difference is that Elite Firefighters go first to allow for more spacing between climbers to reduce the need of passing.
Yes, EMTs can climb with their department, however their climb time is not eligible to departments climbing in the Full Gear groups.
Yes, EMTs that climb with their department are eligible for individual awards in the First Responder Challenge.
