General
We are returning to Hartford 21 and the classic vertical Climb you know and love! Join us indoors and run or walk your way to the top of Hartford 21 for the best Climb yet! With safety being our number one priority, we will continue to monitor and follow current CDC guidelines as well as state/local guidelines.
Firefighter Division participants must climb in full gear including helmet, boots, and air tank. Being on air during the Climb is optional. Our Firefighter participants will climb the stairs following our Civilian participants start times TBD.
You can register online by specifying your participation type. You can climb as a team, an individual, or join us as a volunteer. Then follow the prompts to complete your registration. Please feel free to reach out to event manager Janeene Catalano with any questions.
Online registration prices are as follows:
- $35 starting January 12 through March 28 at 11:59pm
- Online registration closes March 28 at 11:59 p.m. $50 registration fee on event day April 1.
The Hartford Fight For Air Climb consists of approximately 680 steps.
The average time to climb Hartford 21 is approximately 8-12 minutes.
Start times will be provided on our website and sent via email the Thursday prior to Climb day. Climbers will be scheduled in 20-30 second intervals (subject to change). Each participant will receive an individual start time and all team members will be scheduled back-to-back.
Please arrive 30-45 minutes prior to your start time. This gives you time to check in and get your event t-shirt, meet our vendors, take a team photo and warm up before you Climb.
Event day check-in will take place in the lobby of Hartford 21.
If for some reason you cannot complete the climb, someone at the nearest water station can assist you.
Yes! The Practice Climb will be held at Hartford 21 from 10am to 12pm on Saturday, February 25th. You must be registered for the Fight For Air Climb to participate in the practice event.

We are so excited to bring back the After Party! Join us at our brand new location Vaughan’s Irish Public House for afun afternoon complete with a DJ, raffle, special menu, our Civilian & Firefighter combined Awards Ceremony, and more! Vaughan’s is located on Pratt Street in downtown Hartford.
Firefighter Awards will include:
- Fastest Male, Female, & Overall
- Top Three Male Firefighters in each of the following age categories:
18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+ - Top Three Overall Female Firefighters
- Fastest Firefighter Team
Civilian & First Responder Awards will include:
- Fastest Overall First Responders
- Top Three Male and Female in each of the following age categories:
17 & under, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+ - Fastest Male Civilians, Fastest Female Civilians & Fastest Overall Civilian
- Largest Team
- Most Spirited Team
- Fastest Civilian Team
- Fastest First Responder Team
The Elite Challenge is for our most competitive climber! Elite Climbers will be scheduled first in their division and not with the rest of their team.
There is free on-street parking available on the weekends in Hartford. Garage information coming soon!
Fundraising
The minimum fundraising requirement is $100 per person. Climbers have until event day to raise the money. and if, for some reason they haven’t met the minimum they will be asked to pay it before participating.
The registration fee does not count toward the fundraising minimum. But don’t worry, we are here to help, and we have plenty of fundraising ideas and tips to get you started!

Teams
Climbing on a team is the best way to enjoy the event. The camaraderie of the shared endeavor is priceless, and it is way more fun reaching the top with friends and family cheering you on. Must have a team of five or more members to qualify for the Fastest Team Awards.
To form a team, choose Register as Team Captain. Make sure you have a team name in mind: honor a loved one, make it fun or name it after your business — the sky’s the limit!
After you register as a Team Captain, tell your team members to select Register as a Team Member and to search for your team name to join.
Team captains rally friends, family and co-workers to form a team to work together and fundraise for the Climb. Register as Team Captain today!
Yes! Local event managers are here to support Team Captains every step of the way. We also have several online tools for fundraising and team member recruitment. Visit our Fundraising page or contact your event manager.
No, the registration fee and fundraising minimum are per individual. There are no additional fees for creating a team.
