General

With safety being our number one priority, we will continue to monitor and follow current CDC guidelines as well as state/local guidelines.

You can register online by specifying your participation type. You can climb as a team, an individual, or join us as a volunteer. Then follow the prompts to complete your registration. Please feel free to reach out to event manager Steven Riddle with any questions.

Online registration prices are as follows:

  • Volunteer
    No Registration Fee
    Make Every Step Count by volunteering your time and energy at the Fight For Air Climb.
  • Climber
    $35
    Tackle the stairs! How you climb is up to you. Sprint or take it one step at a time. There is a $100 fundraising minimum requirement to participate on event day.
  • Firefighter
    $35
    Ready to take on the Challenge? Firefighters dressed in full gear to take on the Climb. There is a $100 fundraising minimum requirement to participate on event day.
  • Law Enforcement
    $35
    Law enforcement officers, we salute you! Join us and take on the challenge to tackle the stairs. We encourage our law enforcement officers to climb "in gear"...whether that be SWAT gear, bomb gear protection, represent your department and division! There is a $100 fundraising minimum requirement to participate on event day.

  • First Responder
    $35
    Health care workers, paramedics and other first responders we salute you! Join us and take on the challenge to tackle the stairs. There is a $100 fundraising minimum requirement to participate on event day.
  • Climb Your Way
    No Registration Fee
    This is our virtual option for those who can’t make it to event day or prefer another option! Looking for a different challenge? Climb Your Way. It's Your Climb, Your Way. Raise the minimum to earn Climb swag!
  • GORUCK
    $35
    This option is for the endurance athlete or anyone who wants to increase the difficulty of the Climb. GORUCK Climbers carry weighted rucksacks for the duration of the event. There is a $100 fundraising minimum requirement to participate on event day.
  • Elite Climber
    $45
    Individuals who classify themselves as a competitive racer - this is your registration! Because of your speed, you’ll be placed in the first wave. There is a $100 fundraising minimum requirement to participate on event day.

Registration fees are non-refundable. If you are unable to make the event, funds raised will support the American Lung Association’s mission. You may request to transfer your registration fee to the next event date, but please note that registration fees are non-refundable.

The Bank of America Plaza building is 42 floors and 914 steps!

The average time to climb the Bank of America Plaza is 15 minutes.

Start times will on our Day of Event Details page the month leading up to event day. You will receive an email link to the start times. You will also receive a "wave number".

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your start time. This gives you time to check your gear and warm up.

The Bank of American Plaza is located at 101 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL 33602. Once you arrive check in at the registration table to confirm your shift time and collect your climb packet unless you have received it during early packet pick-up.

There are step off areas at the water break levels on floors 15 and 30 if you need to take a breath or not able to finish the climb.

Yes, we have negotiated 9 practice session with the property managers at the Bank of America Building. See the dates below! This year you will need to complete a release of liability form and present it to the security guard prior to your climb. All climb sessions are 8am-4pm. Must be registered as a climber by 4pm the day before the practice to climb. This is not open to the general public. Fundraising

The minimum fundraising requirement is $100 per person. Climbers have until event day to raise the money. and if, for some reason they haven’t met the minimum they will be asked to pay it before participating.

The registration fee does not count toward the fundraising minimum. But don’t worry, we are here to help, and we have plenty of fundraising ideas and tips to get you started!

The American Lung Association is dedicated, now more than ever, to providing you with the Climb experience you know and love. As your Trusted Champion of Lung Health, we are also committed to fulfilling our promise of responsible recreation. Therefore, the American Lung Association will continue to closely monitor public local health conditions and CDC guidelines. In order to appropriately protect our participants' well-being and the community at large, the American Lung Association reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or alter the 2023 Fight For Air Climb.

Should the Fight For Air Climb be altered to be a virtual event, your registration will automatically transfer to virtual participation in our Climb Your Way program. Your registration fee, and any funds raised, will transfer with your registration. Participants who raise $100 or more will earn a Fight For Air Climb shirt. Raise $175 or more to qualify for an additional incentive item.

If the Fight For Air Climb is canceled or postponed, funds raised will support the American Lung Association’s mission. You may request to transfer your registration fee to the next event date, but please note that registration fees are non-refundable.

Thanks to the generous support of people like you, the American Lung Association saves lives by fighting for healthy lungs and healthy air. Today, our fight is more important than ever, and 90 cents of every dollar raised by our organization goes directly to education, research and advocacy.

Teams

Climbing on a team is the best way to enjoy the event. The camaraderie of the shared endeavor is priceless, and it is way more fun reaching the top with friends and family cheering you on.

To form a team, choose Register as Team Captain. Make sure you have a team name in mind: honor a loved one, make it fun or name it after your business — the sky’s the limit!

After you register as a Team Captain, tell your team members to select Register as a Team Member and to search for your team name to join.

Team captains rally friends, family and co-workers to form a team to work together and fundraise for the Climb. Register as Team Captain today!

No, the registration fee and fundraising minimum are per individual. There are no additional fees for creating a team.
