Day of Event Details

We hope you're getting excited to return to Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre on Sunday, October 9, 2022, for our 16th annual Run the Rocks event!

Below are some important details about this year's amazing event. These details will ensure you will have a fantastic run or walk through this beautiful park.

Please read this information carefully!

Early Packet Pickup (Bib & Shirt):

TWO EARLY PACKET (bib & t-shirt) PICK-UP DATES: We are encouraging all participants to save time on the event day and pick up your packet early! Participants may pick up packets for their friends and family.

  • Advance packet pickup is highly recommended due to the crowds on the day of the event.
  • Friday, October 7:
    • Location: American Lung Association in Colorado, 5600 Greenwood Plaza Boulevard, Suite 300, Greenwood Village, CO 80111
    • Time: 8:00am — 6:00pm
  • Saturday, October 8:
    • Location: American Lung Association in Colorado, 5600 Greenwood Plaza Boulevard, Suite 300, Greenwood Village, CO 80111
    • Time: 9:00am — 12:00pm
  • During the Early Packet Pick-Up, you can:

    • Win prizes
    • Check out our Lung Exhibit
    • Play games
    • Learn more about the American Lung Association
    • AVOID LONG LINES AT THE EVENT!

Schedule of Events for Sunday, October 9:

  • 6:00am — Volunteers arrive
  • 7:00am — Packet Pickup Opens in Upper North Lot — Please make every effort to pick up your packet on either Friday or Saturday at the hours listed above to avoid lines.
  • 8:00am — Entrances closed to all traffic
  • 9:00am — 10K Start
  • 9:15am — 5K Start
  • 9:30am — 1.3-mile Family Fun Walk

1. All three (3) events will begin in the Upper NORTH LOT.

  • Start times and capacities are subject to change based on safety requirements in place at the time of the event.

2. If the event schedule needs to change for any reason, updates will be posted here and on social media.

  • Emails and texts will be sent to registrants as needed.
  • Make sure you are OPTED IN to receive texts!

Driving and Parking Instructions:

  • All entrances close promptly at 8:00am!
  • Enter Red Rocks Park through Entrance 1 or 2. Entrances 3 & 4 will be closed. The Denver Police Department will be directing traffic on Hwy 93 at those two entrances.
  • Please use parking lots only. Do not park along the roads at the park.
  • Please consider carpooling as parking is limited.
  • Participants should park in the Lower North, Upper South & Lower South Parking Lots.
  • VIP parking is in the Upper North Lot near the Start Line.
    • Interested in becoming a VIP? Those who raise $1,000 or more receive a VIP Parking pass, a VIP Swag Bag and can skip the beer line!
    • Those who raise $500-$999 receive a VIP Swag Bag and can also skip the beer line!
  • Parking is not permitted in the Top Circle Lot near the Plaza.

Course Routes:

  • Each race will begin in the Upper North Parking Lot and end with an ascent up the Amphitheatre stairs.

Fundraising Incentives:

  • We need your help to reach our goal of $175,000 to support advocacy, programs, and critical lung health research in the coming year.
  • If each participant makes just one ask for support, we can make this happen.

Dogs:

  • Your furry family members are welcome in all three (3) events.
  • Be sure to check out our new dog bandanas and water bowls here!
  • Please pick up after your furry family member to keep this beautiful park clean.

21+ IDs:

  • We are so thrilled to have Tivoli Brewing again as an event sponsor.
  • Everyone must show an ID to receive a free beer, so don’t forget it at home!

Water:

  • Please feel free to bring your own water bottle.
  • Rest stops and water stations are available along the route.
  • Please help us keep this beautiful park free of litter and debris.

Gear Check:

  • We will have a Gear Check tent available should you need us to hold items for you while you walk/run.

Vendors & Fun:

  • Be sure to stick around at the conclusion of your run/walk and visit our partner and vendor booths!

Timing Awards:

**We will also have an award for the overall male and female runners. All awards (besides the overall male and female awards) will be based on chip time. The overall male and female awards will be based on gun time.

Team Awards:

Awards will be presented at our Annual Fundraising and Volunteer Appreciation Event in December 2022.

Team Captains will receive awards in the following categories:

  • Fastest Team
  • Largest Team
  • Highest Fundraising Team
  • Second—Highest Fundraising Team
  • Third—Highest Fundraising Team

Individuals will receive awards in the following categories:

  • Highest Fundraiser
  • Second—Highest Fundraiser
  • Third—Highest Fundraiser

Safety Procedures:

We will have EMS at the event. In case of emergency, please locate the closest EMS or Staff member to assist you.
