Reach the Beach is a cycling event fundraiser for the American Lung Association. Your participation will raise the funds necessary to help provide life-saving lung health education, research and advocacy efforts.

As the trusted champion of lung health, the American Lung Association closely follows CDC guidance related to COVID-19. The COVID-19 pandemic is changing rapidly and requires evolving strategies to maintain effective public health measures. As such, our COVID-19 safety protocols may shift in response to updated COVID-19 local conditions and local ordinances. When the local community spread referenced on the CDC map is low, exemplified by the green or yellow ranges, vaccines and masks are not required inside or outside event locations. When the community spread level is high, shown in orange, vaccines or a negative COVID test (rapid or PCR) within 48 hours pre-event for indoor events, must be shown. For outdoor events in orange communities, masks are encouraged in high traffic areas, and for indoor events in orange communities, masks are required except when actively climbing or when eating or drinking. The American Lung Association reserves the right to adjust safety protocols, up to seven days prior, based on CDC guidance and/or venue, state, and local ordinances. As always, monitor your symptoms and if you are sick, please stay home.

The in-person Reach the Beach has four starting locations based on your desired route length. Cycle Your Way gives you the flexibility to complete your ride at the location of your choosing.

We have four route lengths of 100, 73, 56, and 29 miles. Cycle Your Way gives you the flexibility to select your route length.

In the two last years, the American Lung Association has had several successful Cycle Your Way events. They have been led with a fitness tracker app, which allows you to track your mileage from anywhere. You set your mileage goal and create the Cycle Your Way experience that is perfect for you! Bonuses to Cycle Your Way include greater flexibility to your schedule, exploring new routes and the opportunity to still give back to an organization you can trust. Participants are encouraged but not required to track their mileage.

We encourage you to try to complete your Reach the Beach mileage goal (26, 56, 73, or 100 miles) as a way to stay active and keep your lungs in shape! Ride at home on your stationary bike or get some solo training rides in outdoors (please practice safe social distancing). Please share photos on your social media accounts and encourage others to donate to your personal fundraising page as you ride! Participants are encouraged but not required to track their mileage.
