Yes! We are excited to be able to allow e-bikes (class 1 & 3 only). Please continue reading: The American Lung Association permits electronic bicycles, class I and class III (pedal assist only) to be ridden during the Trek Across Maine event by participants aged 21 and older. Electronic bicycles, as with all standard bicycles, are required to be inspected by a local bike shop and signed off on the Bike Inspection Form by a bike mechanic before riding in the Trek Across Maine event. Keep in mind that you are responsible for charging your e-bike (bring your charging cable) and knowing beforehand how many miles one charge equals. We cannot guarantee that our mechanics will be able to assist with repairs. Additionally, due to the weight, we cannot guarantee that our SAG vehicles will be able to transport disabled e-bikes. We will do our best to assist you.
Please review the E-Bike video for preparing for events on our website. All cyclists (riding a permitted bicycle of any kind) on the Trek Across Maine route are required to follow the rules of the road and any dangerous or questionable riding behavior will be addressed by ride safety officials and can result in being removed from the route.
