Reach the Beach is a cycling event fundraiser for the American Lung Association. Your participation will raise the funds necessary to help provide life-saving lung health education, research and advocacy efforts.

The in-person ride starts and finishes at Countryside Community Church at 18810 SW Kruger Rd, Sherwood, OR 97140 for all four route lengths. Ride Your Way gives you the flexibility to complete your ride at the location of your choosing.

We have four route lengths of 100, 73, 56, and 29 miles. Ride Your Way gives you the flexibility to select your route length.

You can register online by choosing Register at the top and specifying your participation type. Then follow the prompts to complete your registration. Please feel free to reach out to Julia Baker at rtb@lung.org with any questions.

Unfortunately you cannot register multiple people in one transaction. To register family, friends or co-workers you will need to do it in separate transactions. Please make sure that you are logged out after each registration that you enter.

When you register Reach the Beach, a Participant Center is created for you which contains a personal web page, email templates and much more, so that you can created emails that will allow your friends and family make a donation directly to your web page account. The username and password you create when registering will allow you to enter your personal center and view your progress, send out emails to family and friends and to personalize your web page..

On the event home page, click on the LOGIN button. Under Login Assistance click on either the Forgot Username or password link and enter the asked for information into the fields. An email message with the login or password information will be sent to you.

Yes, there is a minimum fundraising requirement of $150 per person. Participants have until packet pickup to meet their minimum fundraising requirement of $150 per person. Participants who have not met their fundraising requirement by packet pickup will need to pay the outstanding amount in order to receive the event t-shirt, finishers’ medal, bib, and to participate in the ride.

No, the registration fee does not apply towards the fundraising minimum. Please contact Julian Dillon if you would like to brainstorm fundraising ideas.

To guarantee your incentive in your preferred size is mailed to you with your rider packet, the fundraising level must be reached by March 1st. Once all the donations have been fully processed from the event, all remaining incentives will be mailed to participants who raised the appropriate amount of funds.

The four biggest reasons for not receiving a confirmation receipt are:

  • A spam blocking program prevented the automatically generated confirmation receipt from getting through to the recipient.
  • Registrant's e-mail address was entered incorrectly.
  • Registrant did not list an email address on the registration form.
  • The registration did not go through.

You may contact us RTB@Lung.org and request that we resend you a confirmation receipt in your email. If you do not have email, you can call 503-718-6155 and request your confirmation receipt be sent to you at your mailing address.

These events are fundraiser focused, so your contributions and those of your donors are necessary and vital to help defeat lung cancer, lung disease and this year support our COVID-19 Action Initiative. The minimum fundraising requirement for in-person or Ride Your Way event includes incentive prizes, an event t-shirt and event bib.

In the last year, the American Lung Association has had several successful Ride Your Way events. They have been led with the a fitness tracker app, which allows you to track your mileage from anywhere. You set your mileage goal and create the Ride Your Way experience that is perfect for you! Bonuses to Ride Your Way include greater flexibility to your schedule, exploring new routes and the opportunity to still give back to an organization you can trust. Participants are encouraged but not required to track their mileage.

We encourage you to try to complete your Reach the Beach mileage goal (26, 56, 73, or 100 miles) as a way to stay active and keep your lungs in shape! Ride at home on your stationary bike or get some solo training rides in outdoors (please practice safe social distancing). Please share photos on your social media accounts and encourage others to donate to your personal fundraising page as you ride! Participants are encouraged but not required to track their mileage.

A team captain gathers together friends, family and co-workers. Each team captain helps guide their team members, from online registration, to setting and achieving their fundraising goal, to seeing them through to the finish line.   • Ideally, a team consists of a captain and a three or more additional team members.
  • Teams can be classified as Corporate (meaning that they are representing a company or organization), Community, or Friends and Family.

No, the registration fees and fundraising minimum are per individual. There are no additional fees for creating a team.

  • Teams provide a way for groups to get involved with the American Lung Association to raise funds and awareness of healthy lungs and air.
  • Teams allow organizations to show their philanthropic spirit.
  • A team provides great motivation to reach a personal fitness goal while enjoying time with others.

Yes! We have several tools available to help team captains: from creating a team page, to helping additional team members register to join the event, and to ensuring your team fundraising goal is met.

  • Mobile App: Download our mobile apps for Apple and Android devices to fundraise and communicate with your teammates on-the-go!
  • Emails:We'll help you through the process of being a team captain by providing you with email templates that are tailored to help you with recruitment and fundraising.
  • Internal kick-offs and informational meetings: We're happy to work with you to have a memorable team kick-off to get your team all fired up!
