Frequently Asked Questions

Cycle the Seacoast is one of the American Lung Association’s signature fundraising events. Your participation will raise the funds necessary to help provide life-saving lung health education, research and advocacy efforts. Out of an abundance of caution, the American Lung Association has adjusted plans for the 2021 Cycle the Seacoast for the safety of our participants, volunteers, staff and partners. You can now participate in the virtual option: Cycle Your Way!

You can register on our website. Follow the prompts to complete your registration. Please feel free to reach out to event manager Melissa Walden with any questions:

You have the option to register as an individual or join a currently existing team. You may be added to a team later by simply contacting us with your request.

Virtual registration fee of $25 is due at the time of registration. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Registration is $25 and is non-transferrable and non-refundable. This does not apply to your fundraising minimum. If you are already registered for the event, you will not need to register again.

Every Cycle Your Way virtual participant is required to raise $200 ($100 for ages 7 17) to receive the event t-shirt and medal. This also applies to all individuals that are part of a team.

Registration and fundraising deadline is June 30th

Donations are accepted online via credit card or through mailed checks (accompanied by a detailed note of who the donation is for, what event, etc.) to the our office:

American Lung Association
Attn: Cycle the Seacoast
122 State Street
Augusta, ME 04330

No, the registration fee does not apply towards the fundraising minimum. Cycle the Seacoast registration fees do not go towards fundraising minimums and are non- refundable and are non- transferable. Please contact Melissa Walden if you would like to brainstorm fundraising ideas.

If you are already registered as Golden Ticket for the event, you do not need to register again and are not required to fundraise. If you received the Golden Ticket and are not yet registered, you need to pay a $55 registration fee to participate in the virtual ride but are not required to fundraise. You will receive your event t-shirt and medal post event and this will count towards your veteran status. You can still earn incentives if you raise $400 or more. If you were not in Winner’s Circle for the 2020 Trek Across Maine or AEBT, this does not apply to you.

Yes! If you are a 5- or 10-year veteran to the event in 2021, you will still receive your award if you meet your fundraising minimum by June 30th.

Your current registration distance will apply for the virtual ride. If you’d like to change that, please contact us. You can participate in the virtual ride at your own pace and on your own route by June 30th. Your miles do not have to be completed all in one day. Virtual participants are not required to ride miles if they do not wish to, however they are required to meet the $200 fundraising minimum to receive the event t-shirt and medal.

If you’d like to raise funds for Cycle the Seacoast, you can register for the Cycle Your Way option and not participate in the cycling aspect of the event. Raise $200 and receive the event t-shirt and medal. Earn the same incentives as the cyclists or opt for an alternative of similar value. You will have access to all the same fundraising tools as the cyclists. Fundraise easily by setting up a Facebook Fundraiser through your participant center!

If you do not want to register but would like to support the Cycle the Seacoast event, you can make a general donation in any amount here.

If you’ve chosen to do Cycle Your Way and complete your mileage, please let us know once you’ve done so by emailing and/or posting your photos and screen shots of mileage in the Facebook Group. Feel free to send us your photos so we can share them on our social media accounts and celebrate your accomplishments! Once we know you’ve completed your fundraising, we will send you your event t-shirt and commemorative medal. Items will be mailed in July.

The event will close on June 30th and you will not be able to raise funds for the 2021 event past that date. We appreciate all your efforts to raise funds for the American Lung Association and understand circumstances can arise that do not allow you to meet the fundraising minimum. As a Cycle Your Way participant, there is a $200 fundraising minimum to get your event t-shirt and medal. Please understand that we are still incurring event costs even though there is no physical event happening.

The 13th Annual Cycle the Seacoast will be on May 1st, 2022 at Cisco Brewers Portsmouth. The 2022 site will be live on July 1st, 2021. You can register for the 2022 event at that time.

Since we will not be having the physical event on May 2nd, now all registrants have through June 30th, 2021 to complete mileage (optional) and fundraising (required). The event t-shirt, medal and additional incentives (to those qualified) will be mailed after June 30th.
