The American Lung Association Asthma Educator Institute is a two-day preparatory course for those qualified to take the National Asthma Educator Certification Board (NAECB) examination. Developed in January 2003, the Asthma Educator Institute was recently updated to reflect the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program Expert Panel Report 3: Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma.
The curriculum covers the content outlined in the NAECB Candidate Handbook and includes case reviews, hands-on skills demonstration and practice. The course is delivered by asthma experts from your community, including Certified Asthma Educators (AE-C).

The fee for this two-day session is $160 if you are NOT a current certified Asthma Educator (AE-C).
If you are currently an AE-C, the discounted fee for taking this course to brush up on asthma knowledge, is $135.

Respiratory therapists, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals who are preparing for the NAECB exam. Please refer to NAECB.com to determine the eligibility to become an AE-C. Bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish) individuals are strongly encourage to attend.
Yes. The RI Association of Certified Asthma Educators (RIACAE) will be reimbursing first-time test takers who PASS the NAECB exam in the amount of $200.
For those who are re-certifying, RIACAE will be providing a $150 as a reimbursement for re-certification costs.

Yes. Anyone can register and participate, regardless if they choose to take the exam or not.
An application for the Continuing Nursing Education Activity has been made to the Northeast Multistate Division (NE-MSD), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
An application will be made to the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) for continuing education contact hours for respiratory therapists.
To receive Continuing Education Credits, you must attend ALL sessions, BOTH days.
