Three Ways To Climb:
Indoor Building Climb

Celebrating its 17th year in San Francisco, the vertical race will be back in the stairwells of the iconic 555 California Street Building. Climbers can once again race up the 1,197 stairs to the top of one of the tallest buildings in the Bay.

Three Ways To Climb:
Outdoor Urban Climb

Prefer to climb outdoors? Our Urban Climb is back by popular demand and will run simultaneously with the Building Climb on March 4th, 2023. In this version climbers will participate in an exploration of the many beautiful outdoor staircases in the City by the Bay. You and your team (and even your dog!) can get outside and race up stairways throughout town as you raise money for the American Lung Association.

View the full map of designated Urban Staircases.

Three Ways To Climb:
Climb Your Way Virtual

Want to participate, but can’t make it to San Francisco on March 4th? If you are registered as a virtual “Climb Your Way” participant, you can pick when and how you want to “climb” (run, walk, swim, lift weights, bike, etc.) as well as the distance you want to travel.

Why We Need You in the Fight

In March of 2020, the American Lung Association launched a $25 million initiative to end COVID-19 and defend against future respiratory virus pandemics. At the same time, we're continuing our advocacy work to support clean air and redoubling our long-term commitments to lifesaving research.

Over the last 12 years, the Climbers have raised more than $71 million to support the mission of the American Lung Association.
