Out of an abundance of caution to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the American Lung Association has adjusted plans for the Fight For Air Ride for the safety of our participants, volunteers, staff and partners. We look forward to supporting you as you ride joyfully, safely, and in good health! For safety additional information, please visit our FAQ page.
Every Mile Counts
For 35 years, the Fight For Air Ride has been one of the American Lung Association’s longest and best traditions. While we look forward to continuing the Fight for Air Ride, the time has come to start a new chapter. This year’s event will be our last multi-day ride at The Abbey Resort & Spa. The 2021 Fight For Air Ride will be held Friday, October 1st - Sunday, October 3rd. The decision to postpone to October was made due to COVID-19. The health and safety of our participants is our top priority, and we anticipate that circumstances for hosting this event will continue to improve steadily into the fall. This year’s event will offer a 3-day ride only.
In 2022 and beyond, the Fight For Air Ride will transition to be a 1-day ride. This format will offer new challenges and multiple mileage options. More information, and opportunities to be part of our planning committee, coming soon.
In the meantime, we are excited to celebrate the end of an era with our #FontanaFarewell ride this October. Join us for this last hurrah at The Abbey Resort & Spa! Help us to make the 2021 event a reunion, bringing together as many of our past riders as possible.
The Fight For Air Ride encourages our cyclists to stay active and enjoy time on their bike (practicing safe social distancing) while supporting the work of the American Lung Association. Please review the details below regarding how you can participate.
Ride In-Person — Join us in-person at the Fight For Air Ride by selecting our three day rider experience. A registration fee and fundraising minimum will apply.
Ride Your Way — Plan your own ride for our virtual participation type, while staying involved with the Fight For Air Ride. A registration fee and fundraising minimum will apply.
Get those miles in!
Please remember to practice social distancing while spending time on your bike and working towards achieving your mileage goal. Daily exercise is key to both lung health and mental health
For more detailed information on the virtual event, including additional incentives, ways to stay connected and how to communicate with your donors, please check out the FAQ page.
In order to make this year’s event as interactive as possible, we’ve created a Fight For Air Ride Strava Club! Strava is a free application you can download on your smart phone (or desktop) to track your miles as you cycle in support of the American Lung Association.
In March, the American Lung Association launched a $25 million initiative to end COVID-19 and defend against future respiratory virus pandemics. At the same time, we're continuing our advocacy work to support clean air and redoubling our long-term commitments to lifesaving research.
