Our Climb Safe Commitment

Our Climb Safe Commitment includes spatial distancing, health screenings, sanitation protocols, and face masks.

The American Lung Association is committed to the health and safety of our participants and volunteers. We will continue to closely monitor public health conditions and CDC guidelines as we plan for the 2021 event.

Every Step Counts

Outdoors, onward and upward.

Healthy lungs and clean air. That’s why we Climb.

We're taking the Climb outside in 2021. We’re moving onward and upward, safely and responsibly, so that we can make an impact now to ensure a healthier future for all.

Celebrating its 15th year in San Francisco, the vertical race has been reimagined for 2021 as an exploration of the many beautiful staircases. You and your team and even your dog! can get outside, stay socially distant, and race up stairways throughout town as you collect points, prizes, and raise money for the American Lung Association.

Just like our indoor event, how you climb outdoors is up to you. You can race to the end or take it at your own pace.

Your safety is always our number one priority. While we are planning for an outdoor event, we are continually monitoring local conditions with regard to COVID-19. Check this page for the most up-to-date information about the event.

We need you in the fight now more than ever. Come outside for the shared challenge, for the camaraderie, and for a world free of all lung disease.

There’s even a Climb Your Way virtual option for those who can’t make it to the event.

Why We Need You in the Fight

In March, the American Lung Association launched a $25 million initiative to end COVID-19 and defend against future respiratory virus pandemics. At the same time, we're continuing our advocacy work to support clean air and redoubling our long-term commitments to lifesaving research.

Over the last 11 years, the Climbers have raised more than $60 million to support the mission of the American Lung Association. Last year, more than 26,000 participants from 43 Climb events across the country came together last year to raise more than $7 million.
