Small Steps, Bold Strides

Join us and turn small steps into bold strides toward a world without lung cancer and lung disease.

Come out and experience the celebratory and welcoming atmosphere of the Hartford LUNG FORCE Walk presented by Wells Fargo.

It doesn't matter how you roll, whether you like to saunter, power-walk or stroll.  There's a Walk Your Way virtual option for those who can't make it to the event.

The LUNG FORCE Walk provides critical funds for lifesaving research, early detection initiatives, and awareness outreach to vulnerable communities.

2024 Medical Honoree Award

We are thrilled to grant Hartford HealthCare’s Dr. Mark Godfrey our inaugural Medical Honoree Award for the 2024 Hartford LUNG FORCE Walk. This award honors healthcare professionals with demonstrated experience related to lung cancer screening, prevention, treatment, or research in the state of Connecticut.

Dr. Mark Godfrey completed medical school at the University of Arizona (AOA, 2013) followed by Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Residency at Brown University Warren Alpert School of Medicine, then Pulmonary and Critical Care and Interventional Pulmonology fellowships at Yale. He is the current Director of Bronchoscopy and Interventional Pulmonology at Hartford Hospital. With Hartford HealthCare, he is a part of a team of providers and administrators focused on improving lung cancer screening and his clinical practice is in large part devoted to patients with lung cancer. Two years ago, Mark lost his sister to lung cancer and he’s sure that she would be very proud of the American Lung Association and our walk participants working to fight this disease.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Godfrey and thanking him for his incredible work.

      Why We Need You

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths among women and men. Someone is diagnosed with lung cancer every two minutes and 14 seconds. 4 in 5 of those diagnosed will ultimately die of the disease.

      Why We're Hopeful

More Americans than ever are surviving lung cancer. The survival rate has increased by a dramatic 13% to 22.6% in the last 5 years. Your support will help us continue the progress in our efforts to defeat lung cancer.
