Every Step Counts

Fight For Air Climb - Group PhotoWe deeply regret to inform you that the 2020 Fight For Air Climb - Chicago at Presidential Towers has been cancelled.

While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Chicago Department of Public Health have not recommended the cancellation of public events concerning COVID-19 (coronavirus), our host sponsor, Presidential Towers, has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.

As always, the health and well-being of Lung Association event participants, volunteers, staff and partners, as well as the residents of our host and partner, remains our top priority. Weighing heavily into this decision is an ongoing commitment to overall wellness.

Presidential Towers has been a partner and host of the Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb for 11 years and we are sensitive to their concerns of those that live in the 2,346 apartments that call Presidential Towers home.

Presidential Towers has assured us that they remain committed to the Lung Association and look forward to hosting next year’s Fight For Air Climb.

Again, we are saddened by this turn of events and we know you might have some questions. We are ready and prepared to answer them. Below is some initial information that may be helpful to you and your team.

  1. Will the Climb be rescheduled?
Unfortunately, given the size and scope of the event, we are unable to reschedule the 2020 event. When public health concerns subside, you will receive an invite to a celebration to recognize you, your teams and the critical funds raised in support of the American Lung Association.
  2. What will happen to my registration fee?
Your 2020 registration fee may be used toward your registration for the 2021 Chicago climb, using a promotion code. We will share next steps to register for the 2021 event in a follow up message.
  3. What will happen to the funds I raised?
The funds you’ve raised will be used toward achieving the mission of the American Lung Association, including, research, education and advocacy efforts for lung health. On behalf of those living with asthma, COPD and lung cancer, please know how much we appreciate your support.
  4. Can I still fundraise?
Yes - the event website will remain open until April 9th. Incentive items will still be available to those participants who have raised $175+. Click here to view our 2020 incentive items.

What is a Fight For Air Climb?

One of the American Lung Association's signature fundraising events, Fight For Air Climbs are stair climbs held in prominent skyscrapers around the country. Climbers join friends, family, co-workers or even fly solo, climbing the stairs of the building to the top! Over the last several years, our Fight For Air Climbs have raised more than $53 million to support the mission of the American Lung Association.

More than 27,000 participants from 42 Climb events across the country came together last year to raise more than $8 million. This year, you can join the challenge and raise money to help provide life-saving lung health research, patient education and public policy efforts.

The Fight For Air Climbs vary in the number of stairs to climb, but each event offers an opportunity for teams and individuals to challenge themselves. And every step you take moves us forward in our fight for healthy lungs and clean air.
