The 2019 Fight For Air Climb Detroit is growing!

This year the climb will be taking place in TWO buildings, side-by-side, in downtown Detroit. Before registering, please read below details about these additions.

Ally Detroit Center - 8AM EST

This building will host our Elite Climber & Climber participants. NEW this year, participants will go up 42 floors & down 42 floors for a total of 84 floors and 1,796 steps. In addition, this climb will be broken-up in to two sessions to add more participants to this event! A morning session with climb start times from 9am-11:30am and an afternoon session with climb start times from 1:15pm-3:00pm . In order to be in the same session as your pals, make sure to start a team together when registering!

One Woodward 9:00AM EST (SOLD OUT)

This building will host our Fire Fighter and Other Responder participants in addition to the new Vertical Mile Challenge. One Woodward was designed by Minoru Yamasaki, who went on to design the World Trade Center in New York. The Fire Fighter and Other Responder Challenge will start on the 2nd floor with participants climbing up to the 28th floor and then descending down to the first floor, for a total of 1,108 stairs.

For those in top physical condition, new year this year is our Vertical Mile Challenge. Participants will be challenging the clock as they climb and descend the 28 floors to achieve one full vertical mile up and one full vertical mile down. Beginning at 5:30 AM, Climbers will have 3 hours to complete the challenge of climbing 15 times up and 15 times down - plus a few additional floors! Due to the limited number of spaces available and the intensity of the climb, you must qualify for this category. Note there is an increased registration fee and a $500 minimum fundraising requirement. To learn more about this race of lifetime, please contact Maureen.Rovas@Lung.org to learn more.

When you participate in a Fight For Air Climb event, you are stepping up to make a positive impact for those affected by lung disease. You will raise funds to support the American Lung Association's mission while climbing the stairs of a skyscraper.

Register today, and we will help you from the first step in your Climb experience all the way to the finish line. There is no elevator to a cure; you have to take the stairs. Contact us with questions or for more information.

One of the American Lung Association's signature fundraising events, Fight For Air Climbs are stair climbs held in prominent skyscrapers around the country. Climbers join friends, family, co-workers or even fly solo, climbing the stairs of the building to the top! Over the last several years, our Fight For Air Climbs have raised more than $53 million to support the mission of the American Lung Association.

More than 26,000 participants from 44 Climb events across the country came together last year to raise more than $7.4 million. This year, you can join the challenge and raise money to help provide life-saving lung health research, patient education and public policy efforts.

The Fight For Air Climbs vary in the number of stairs to climb, but each event offers an opportunity for teams and individuals to challenge themselves. And every step you take moves us forward in our fight for healthy lungs and clean air.
