Climb For Clean Air

Mountain Fresh

Greetings friends, family, and fellow clean-air enthusiasts!

If you’re on this page, it means you’re considering contributing to Team Mountain Fresh’s goal of raising $21,250 for the American Lung Association as part of the Climb for Clean Air. THANK YOU from the bottom of our lungs!!

WHAT IT IS: The Climb for Clean Air is an annual fundraising program run by the American Lung Association (ALA) that pairs outdoors enthusiasts with a great cause. The program offers volunteers the opportunity to climb Mount Rainier (so cool!), and in exchange, volunteers are asked to raise at least $4,250 to support the work of the ALA. EVERYBODY WINS!

You, probably: “I’m a savvy charitable giver. I don’t just GIVE MY MONEY AWAY! Tell me more about the ALA.”

I’m glad you asked! The American Lung Association is the NUMBER ONE ADVOCATE for lung health issues. The ALA works to improve lung health and prevent lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

Lung cancer is the leading cancer-killer of women and men in the United States. We HATE cancer, but we LOVE that the ALA is doing something about it!
WHY YOU SHOULD CARE: More than 228,000 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year and 100% of people have lungs!! There’s a good chance that you or someone you know has had or is currently diagnosed with lung cancer or another lung-related illness.

MEET THE TEAM: Team Mountain Fresh is a group of five outdoorsy lung-enthusiasts looking for a fun way to give back.

Paul Huiras: Paul is a graduate of Bellarmine Prep (’13) and of UW (’17) and has spent the past 25 years exploring all that the outdoors have to offer. He currently lives and works in the Seattle area and has previously summited both Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams.

Madison Vogt: Madison is a graduate of Bellarmine Prep and studied Art at WSU. She is curious by nature and finds answers by traveling, spending time with friends, and doing yoga. Monday through Friday she loves working for the Merchandising team at Nordstrom HQ.

Colter Swords: Colter graduated from Washington State University. He takes advantage of all the PNW has to offer, in the mountains or out on the water. He currently works as an Engineer for Genie and lives in Ballard.

Sara Stephens: Sara is a graduate of WSU (go cougs!). She loves traveling, snowboarding, her dog, and anything else that involves being outside. She is on the Marketing team at Slalom Consulting and lives in Seattle.

Ian Staeheli: Ian is a graduate of Bellarmine Prep (‘12) and of Gonzaga University (‘16) and is an avid outdoor enthusiast. He currently works as an Analyst at Puget Sound Energy and lives in the greater Seattle area.

WHY WE’RE DOING THIS: Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in again. Hold it. Keep holding it… Don’t stop.. Okay breathe out! Isn’t clean, breathable air great? We think so too. That’s why we’re partnering with the American Lung Association as part of the Climb for Clean Air to raise over $20,000 to support initiatives for cleaner air and healthier lungs!

tl; dr
Clean air is good. Healthy lungs are good. The American Lung Association is good. Team Mountain Fresh is good. If you like good things, we would love for you to support and share our fundraising efforts for the American Lung Association. THANK YOU!

If you have more questions or just want to say hi, feel free to reach out to Ian!
