Hey there! We are Natalie deWitt and Austin White and we need your help raising $8,500 for the American Lung Association!
As avid explorers of the outdoors since childhood, we’ve bonded over our mutual love for hiking, backpacking, and rock climbing. Through the course of our relationship we’ve shared many great trips throughout the Sierras, Big Sur, and the Olympic Peninsula. We’re excited to return to Washington this summer with a great goal in mind.
Last year, Austin participated in the American Lung Association’s Climb for Clean Air program by climbing Mount Hood and raising over $4,000 in support of the lung disease research and anti-smoking education provided by the ALA. Austin has multiple autoimmune lung diseases, so the cause for the climb was very close to home for him. Climbing Mount Hood was an amazing opportunity to overcome the challenges these illnesses present, both mentally and physically, while at the same time fundraising for an organization that is dedicated to helping others navigate these difficult issues and creating a healthier world for us all to live in. After he went through that extremely rewarding experience, we knew we wanted to participate together this year and decided to take on the challenge of Mount Rainier as a team.
We are asking for you to donate an amount you are comfortable with to help support us and the programs of the American Lung Association. Every donation is appreciated, and if everyone who reads this letter donates $25 today we will reach our goal of raising $8,500 by June. With your help, we will fight against lung disease and for lung health. Over 70% of your donation goes directly to supporting American Lung Association programs, so your money will be well spent and not used to line a CEO’s pocket. Your donation is tax deductible, and your company may have a contribution matching program as well to really make your dollars count!
We will be hosting fundraising nights a local venues like Capitol Garage and Boulevard Skate Shop and Natalie will be teaching donation-based yoga classes in order to reach our goal. As part of our training we will also be doing clean-up hikes and we will be auctioning off bags of collected trash. Also, donating couldn’t be easier. You can make your contribution here on our page, in-person at one of our events, or if you’d prefer to take the scenic route, download the donation form from the link at the bottom of the page, print and fill it out, and mail in your check.
Every donation we receive not only supports the program financially but also serves to motivate and empower us during our training for the climb and on our journey through life with lung disease. Your support is humbling and most sincerely appreciated.
