Cece and Felicia became friends at work and immediately connected and built an authentic friendship filled with fun and adventure! They share the love of the outdoors and hiking together. They also have something in common, both have been impacted by lung disease and lung cancer. Here are their stories and why they are choosing to summit Mt. Hood to raise money for the American Lung Association!
Cece's story: I’ve been an avid hiker for years, but this will be my first technical summit. I’ve known many people who have been touched by lung disease. My mom’s partner of 13 years, Becky Trigg, passed in 2011 from lung cancer; and my uncle, Curt Nickles, also passed from lung cancer in 2014. I feel honored to raise money and climb in their names and with an organization dedicated to research that helps millions of Americans.
Felicia's story: This cause is so near and dear to my heart. When I heard about being able to summit my favorite mountain while fundraising for such an amazing cause, I knew that I had to climb! I lost my father, Scott, to lung cancer nearly three years ago at 58. My son, Leighton, was born with a rare lung disorder and had a lobe of his lung removed at age 4. My dear friend, Aimee, lost her brother, Alex, to lung cancer at 25 years old five years ago. These losses and hardships have had a profound impact on my life and the lives of my loved ones. I cannot wait to stand at the summit to honor them and make a difference in the health of others.
