Climber Donation (Tax-Deductibility) Information
Donating To Your Own Climb
Climbers are welcome (and encouraged) to make contributions to their own climbs, but should be aware that the amount is not considered tax-deductible until it exceeds the Fair Market Value (FMV) of what you receive as a climb participant. Please also note that matching gift programs will likely not match any amount given by a participant towards their own climb until it exceeds the FMV. Climber registration fees are also not considered tax-deductible.
Donations from non-participants or donations by a participant to another climber's fundraising are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Fair Market Values for each of the mountain climbs (includes guide services, meals, lodging, etc.) are listed below:
Mt. Adams - $675
Mt. Hood - $725
Mt. Rainier - $1,600
