WOW! We managed to raise $5000 before May 1st! Thank you everyone for your support and generosity to the Aemrican Lung Association! Lets see how much over the goal we can raise for this great charity!
I'm doing the Climb for Clean Air to challenge myself and to support people with lung disease who have to fight for every breath. I'm climbing for a healthier future and for clean air. This will be the first time I have participated in the American Lung Association's Climb For Clean Air/Reach The Summit program and I couldnt be more excited!
You may think I’m nuts (and you may be right!), but climbing Mt. Hood is something I’ve wanted to do for some time. When I found out about this opportunity, it really hit home, as several of my relatives and family have asthma or asthma like conditions and they can be severely affected by air quality which impacts their ability to breathe. So, I’m excited to embark on this adventure and help make a difference and support the American Lung Association’s excellent programs and research.
Through groundbreaking research, advocacy and critical education, the money we raise will provide lifesaving treatments and dramatically improve the quality of life for more than 36 million Americans diagnosed with lung disease.
Join the Climb for Clean Air and be part of making a difference in the lives of lung disease patients and their caregivers. Every donation takes us one step closer to a world free of lung disease. The need is urgent, so please join me today and help us save more lives.
Every day, every minute and every second counts – join me or donate today.
Something that I would like to do to thank everyone who has donated by the deadline, will be to send a postcard picutre of me at summit of Mt. Hood.
- Everyone who donates $75 or more will have their name put onto the shirt I am wearing in the postcard picture.
I will hold a get together in May for those in the Portland area who wish to sign their names to the Tshirt.
- Everyone who donates $125 or more will receive a copy of tshirt design I will wear in the picture.
- Everyone who donates $250 or more will have their names put into a raffle for the shirt worn in the postcard photo.
Each additional $250 after the first will add another chance in the raffle.
- Everyone who donates $750 or more will have their names be put into a raffle for me to carry an item of their choice (weight and space allowing) to the summit for a picture.
Each additional $125 after the first will add another chance in the raffle.
Weather and safety permitting.

T-Shirt Design
Hi All,
the approval for the T-shirt came back from the American Lung Association! You can see the T-shirt design on the page now. There will be a large crest on the back with a smaller one in front. The T-shirt will be grey/white in color. The Mountain is Mt. Hood from the Cooper Spur trail. I took the picture and edited the picture. I like how it turned out.

Training
Training continues to go well. This past weekend with the night hike I was able to try out crampons and to experience how the weather will likely feel when I start my climb around midnight on the 31st of may. Snowshoeing helped train for crampon use by forcing me to keep my feet wider and be more mindful of my step placement. Thank you Jon for letting me borrow your snowshoes!

The new photo is from the top of Mt. Tumalo in which you can See South Sister Middle Sister and Broken Top. It was a great day to test out new equipment.
This Saturday I will be doing a night hike out of Timberline up Palmer with fellow CFCA Participants!
