Hello! If you know me even a little, you know that Ive become a bit of a hiking fanatic over the past few years. I have been hiking every weekend for over 2 years now and have racked up over 1000 miles on the trails since then. I have gazed at Mt. Hood so many times from countless trails, and never dreamed that I would have the ability to summit this beauty. However, with the help of Climb for Clean Air, I have decided to take the leap and train to climb Mt. Hood. The outdoors is a vital part of my physical and mental wellbeing and the feelings I gain when I'm surrounded by nature are unlike any other. I cannot imagine a more perfect challenge to embark upon this year!
In addition to training hard to achieve my personal goal, the Climb for Clean Air program is a fundraising climb, where I am required to raise $3900, with proceeds going toward the American Lung Association. I cannot achieve this on my own and this is where you get to play a part! Your tax-deductible contribution to the American Lung Association, on my behalf, will not only secure my place on the team, most importantly, it will help those struggling to breathe easier. Any contribution is greatly appreciated! Also, chances are you know someone who has faced the challenges of asthma, COPD, lung cancer or air pollution. By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the American Lung Association provide community based education programs, fight for cleaner air standards and fund life-saving research. With your help, we will fight against lung disease and for lung health. We will be making a positive difference for all of the parents who have a child with asthma, the people who struggle daily with COPD and the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children and friends who get diagnosed with lung cancer. Also, the ALA has a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator, which is the highest rating an organization can receive!
Donations can be made online by clicking on the "Donate Now" button on this page. Or, if you’d prefer to send a check, let me know and we can work that out. Every donation I receive helps make a bigger impact. Please help support my efforts and lets work together to save lives and fight lung disease!
I begin training on February 15th with the summit climb planned for June 5th. You can follow my training hikes and progress on Instagram: @atwood_outdoors. I look forward to the adventure ahead!
