Hi friends !
For those of you that don’t know, I am training to summit Mt Rainier this June with the American Lung Association Climb for Clean Air!
Last year the idea of summiting Rainier was just a dream of mine- something I hoped to do one day but never really put the effort into figuring out how. I was incredibly excited when the Tideworks Mountaineers (a technology company part of our Carrix family) extended the invite for SSA employees to join their team. So of course, I went to the first “meeting” and by the end of that 60 minutes I had committed to summiting Rainier!
I am so incredibly excited for this opportunity. Over the last year I really fell in love with the PNW and the beauty it offers. Hiking and being in the mountains has brought so much to my life, especially during one of my most challenging years. It has brought clarity, peacefulness, and so much joy. The feeling of being on top of a mountain, in the sunshine (ok mostly during summer only) and fresh air, pushing through tired legs or oxygen deprived lungs, finally reaching the top and enjoying the beauty and the calmness that it brings is one of the best feelings !
Those that know me know I love a good challenge- the feeling of doing something difficult, but attainable if I focus and train accordingly. This is why I am climbing. I am climbing for the experience, the excitement, the courage and the strength. I chose to climb with the American Lung Association because I believe in their mission; their goal to help improve lung health and prevent lung disease. And what better way to fight for healthy lungs than to climb a 14,410 foot volcano!?
If you’ve read this far, I hope you’ll consider a donation to support my climb. I have a personal goal to raise $4,250 by June 1 and I would love and appreciate any donation amount you are willing or able !
Help me reach the summit and fight for those who can’t!
Every donation I receive helps make a bigger impact. Please help support my efforts to save lives, donate now.
Together we can fight lung disease successfully!
