Friends, family, strangers... Welcome to my fundraising page! Please follow the journey IG: @JessicaPlantEmoji FB: Jessica Wolford #AJClimbsRainier
Story time: I started smoking cigarettes when I was just 13 years old and unfortunately, I did not realize the damage I was doing to my lungs until years later. Nearly 5 years ago now I made the decision to quit smoking for good and haven't looked back! My love for the outdoors and hiking has been a huge motivation in remaining smoke and nicotine-free. One reason that I chose Climb for Clean Air was its focus on youth education about the dangers of both smoking and vaping. I would do just about anything for a chance to go back and convince my teenage self not to pick up that terrible habit! It also provides an opportunity to do something I have been dreaming of, climbing Mt. Rainier. This is a recent and seemingly intangible dream but when I saw an ad for this organization, I felt for the first time that it could become a reality.
Let’s make sure everyone can benefit from healthy lungs.
Chances are you know someone who has faced the challenges of asthma, COPD, lung cancer or air pollution. By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the American Lung Association provide community-based education programs, fight for cleaner air standards and fund life-saving research. With your help, we will fight against lung disease and for lung health. We will be making a positive difference for all of the parents who have a child with asthma, the people who struggle daily with COPD and the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children, and friends who get diagnosed with lung cancer.
Every donation I receive helps make a bigger impact. Please help support my efforts to save lives, donate now.
Together we can fight lung disease successfully!
Covid-19 has brought some challenges to our lives as well as this fundraiser and future climb. Training indoors is not as easy or fulfilling but thanks to a great fitness instructor (@ColleenFreeseFitness), we have some awesome home workouts. Also, Climb for Clean Air has given us access to a nutritionist and climber, Maria Fares, to consult for training and diet-related questions. Everyone has been so supportive and encouraging! We also scored a couple of permits to climb Mt. Saint Helens in April and will be joining some ALA friends for our first ever volcano summit! We couldn't be more stoked! Thank you so much for helping us reach our goals!
