My name is Julie (York) Krim, and for those of you who know me, you know about my passion for climbing mountains. I climb one, and dream about the next. I have been dreaming about summitting Mt Hood for some time, and when I heard about the American Lung Association’s Climb for Clean Air fundraiser, I thought, why not climb for a cause!
As a Registered Nurse working at the Veterans Affairs (VA), I take care of many patients who suffer from a variety of lung diseases and disorders, including asthma, COPD, bronchitis, emphysema, pneumonia, tuberculosis, lung cancer, and pulmonary fibrosis. Over the years I have witnessed the suffering and fear that comes from not being able to breathe. As a Hospice Nurse, I worked hard to give my patients some relief as they struggled to breathe. I held many hands, trying to offer comfort, as they moved toward their last breath. Now, as a Primary Care Nurse, I continue to work with patients to find ways to treat their lung diseases so they can live more comfortably.
I am committed to helping support the American Lung Association’s mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research. I am also very excited to be able to do it while satisfying my own passion for climbing!
I would like to thank you for helping me on my journey with your generous support. My fundraising goal is $3,900 (minimum). Any amount is greatly appreciated, to help me reach my fundraising goal! Your donation goes in full to the American Lung Association, and it is tax-deductible.
I have also committed to walking or riding my bike to and from work from now, until I climb in May. Along with your generous donation, perhaps you too might choose to walk and/or bike for Clean Air! It’s good for you, good for the planet, and good for those suffering from lung disease!
May we all be thankful for clean air, and the gift of breathing with ease!
