Mt Rainier, here I come!
I have been trying to support different non-profit organizations through my active lifestyle since 2005. This year, I am doing a fund raising for American Lung Association to summit Mt Rainier through their Climb for Clean Air program.
You may not know, Mt Rainier has been with me since I was kid. My parent owned a fruit stall in Hong Kong and we had sold thousands of Washington Apples. On the big Apple box, there was always a mountain which I found out it was Mt Rainier after I moved to Seattle.
Since I moved to Seattle, I have been admired the beauty of Mt Rainier and summiting her becomes one of my dreams.
When one of my friends did the climb with American Lung Association 2 years ago, I set my heart to do that. Again, bringing my love of exercising and a good cause together.
Besides, doing this event has a lot of meanings to me. Growing up in Hong Kong, I realize how blessed we are with the fresh and clean air here in US. Asthma, bronchitis and coughing was what I had grown up with.
My father had been suffering with Lung diseases for years.
Chances are you know someone who has faced the challenges of asthma, COPD, lung cancer or air pollution. By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the American Lung Association provide community based education programs, fight for cleaner air standards and fund life-saving research. With your help, we will fight against lung disease and for lung health. We will be making a positive difference for all of the parents who have a child with asthma, the people who struggle daily with COPD and the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children and friends who get diagnosed with lung cancer.
Lastly, I also want to dedicate this climb to my late dentist, Dr. William Hungate, he was a fellow ironman and had a love for mountain climbing. He passed away at one of his climbs during an avalanche on Granite Mountain, Snoqualmie Pass, WA. He was the most cheerful, encouraging and loving person!
As usual, there is no big or small donation, every penny counts. I also appreciate your thoughts, prayer and encouragement so I can get to the summit of Mt Rainier! And I promise, I will make a video to thank everyone who makes a donation when I get to the top!
