Let’s make sure everyone can benefit from healthy lungs.
Many of you know I have been a fund raiser for the American Lung Association for the past 4 years by being involved with the Reach the Beach bicycle ride. I have ridden as long as 80 miles. This year I decided to up my game and go for a BHAG-Big Hairy Audacious Goal. I'm partipating in Climb for Clean Air. The culmination of this effort will be a climb to the summit of Mt. Hood May 30-31st. Physically this will be an extreme challenge for me, but there is a lot of training provided and I will be doing practice hikes on my own between weekly hikes of progressivly longer, steeper distances with my training group. I also am doing strength training and have joined a gym which has a room that mimics high altitude conditions. So I can walk on a treadmill at 9000 feet (and higher as I get fitter). The physical challenge is not the only thing Audacious about this goal. The fund raising goal is $4000. which needs to be met by June 1st. I will be engaging the creative side of my brain to meet this challenge but I'll need your help, too.
Chances are you know someone who has faced the challenges of asthma, COPD, lung cancer or air pollution. By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the American Lung Association provide community based education programs, fight for cleaner air standards and fund life-saving research. With your help, we will fight against lung disease and for lung health. We will be making a positive difference for all of the parents who have a child with asthma, the people who struggle daily with COPD and the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children and friends who get diagnosed with lung cancer. And remember it's lung cancer, not breast cancer, that's the biggest cancer killer of women. I'm climbing for my Mom, my best friend Pat, my cousin Glo and my Grandfather, as well as all the patients with lung disease I've seen over the years.
Every donation I receive helps make a bigger impact. And note that nearly 90% of donated money goes directly to research and to help patients with lung disease. Any amount of money is apprecited, but I'm asking for at least $100 from individuals and at least $200 from businesses. Those amounts would REALLY help. Thank you so much.
Together we can fight lung disease successfully!
