I am excited to climb Mt. Rainier again this year with the American Lung Association!
My grandmother passed from emphysema due to smoking. Even though she passed due to tobacco, most of my family, myself included, had continued to smoke. I quit smoking cigarettes in October of 2017, it was one of the hardest things I ever did. To help stay on track with my healthy lung decisions, I had found Climb for Clean Air and signed up for the 2018 climb. The training, the cause and the summit goals kept me on track and smoke free!
I hope to inspire others who are still smoking to quit and to prevent others from starting in the first place. The American Lung Association also funds teen smoking cessation and prevension programs, like "Not On Tobacco" and "Teens Against Tobacco Use" in schools in our seven state region. like
It took me about 5 times trying to quit smoking to actually quit!
I did not summit on my first attempt in 2018, but that is not going to stop me from trying again. If I simply quit attempting things by failing, I would still be smoking today.
