Climb For Clean Air

Hello!

As we start to train for our upcoming hike, we wanted to take a moment to express our excitement and gratitude for everyone's effort to help us on this journey. It's not just about the breathtaking views and the thrill of the climb; we are also on a mission to make a difference. Over the next few months we are hoping to raise $10,000 for the American Lung Association. With your generous donations, we hope to raise awareness and educate others on the effects of air quality in the PNW. Our fundraising efforts are crucial, and every step we take on this hike will help us reach our goal.

Your donations will help the American Lung Association with research, education/programs and advocacy.

More than 35 million people in the US live with chonic lung disease. Almost half a million people in the US die from tobacco caused disease every year. Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer in men & women. The "State of the Air" 2024 revealed that nearly 4 out of 10 people in the US are beathing air that failed the 3 air pollution measures.

In Oregon, Eugene-Springfield is ranked #4 in the most polluted cities when it comes to particle pollution, both year round and in 24 hour period. Portland is ranked #21 for 24 hour particle pollution. In the recent years, climate change has been more pronounced, causing more wildfires. The smoke we inhale during the long summer months spreads dangerous particle pollution that can lead to serious illness, lung cancer and even premature death.

Leading up to the hike we will be updating this page to let all of our family, friends and donors know of the progress we are making.

Let's rally together to make this campaign a success!

-Dixie & Alex
