My name is Loretta
I have asthma.
But not just asthma, type 2 asthma, which my doctor paraphrased as chronic inflammation of the lungs. So not only do I take daily inhalers that I've had since age 10, but I have to take a biweekly injection to keep my lungs healthy. The injection is a newer drug and has changed my life drastically. I went from a multiple times a day rescue inhaler user, to maybe needing it 3 or 4 times in the last year
This last summer I was able to finally live a dream and go backpacking for the first time. I was able to go on several different hikes and adventures that before I would have declined knowing my lungs wouldn't be up for the task. Climb for clean air is personal. And I cannot wait.
Fighting for healthy lungs is what inspired me to sign up to participate in the American Lung Association's Climb For Clean Air . This cause is especially important to me as a lung disease survivor.
I'm doing the Climb for Clean Air to challenge myself and to support people, like me, with lung disease who have to fight for every breath.
I'm climbing for a healthier future.
Through groundbreaking research, advocacy and critical education, the money we raise will provide lifesaving treatments and dramatically improve the quality of life for more than 36 million Americans diagnosed with lung disease.
