Welcome to my Climb for Clean Air fundraiser for the American Lung Association.
Wheather we have met before, or this is your first time here, let me tell you why I am climb.
This is the fourth year that I have participated in the Climb for Clean Air. Each year I find the mission is closer to my heart.
As a critical care nurse who worked through th3 COVID-19 pandemic, I am deeply grateful to the work of the American Lung Association for the research and funding it provided in the development of a vaccine.
I climb because there is still more work to do for the treatment and management of chronic lung disease. I climb for the memory of my uncle, Dr. Robert Sandoval, who lived with asthma and then developed a non-smoking related form of lung cancer that resultedin his early death.
As an outdoor enthusiast, I climb to fight against air pollution and to keep those beautiful skies in the Alpine blue. That crisp air is something I treasure and want to ensure that Clean Air Act continues to keep each breath I take is not increasing my risk of developing lung disease.
I climb to support the American Lung Association's mission to provide lifesaving treatments and dramatically improve the quality of life for more than 36 million Americans diagnosed with lung disease by helping to fund groundbreaking research, advocacy and critical education.
I climb to support people living with lung disease and are fighting for every breath. That sounds a bit dramatic, but you can trust me I am a nurse.
Are you trying to quit smoking? Maybe donate the cost of that next pack of cigarettes. Or, can spare $19 for their work in preventing future respiratory viruses like COVID-19. $37 for the 37 million Americans living with lung disease. How about $54 for 54 years of the Clean Air Act? Can't donate? Please share my story and my fundraiser with others.
