As many of you know my life was forever changed in March of 2017 when I received a diagnosis of Stage IV Adenocarcinoma NSCLC. Fortunately for me my cancer was caused by the ALK Gene Mutation which meant I could take Targeted Therapy. 4 pills, twice a day. Research made this possible for me. My treatment was still new and had not yet received FDA approval as a first line therapy however, my oncologist fought to get this treatment approved for me. I was fortunate to remain on this treatment for 42 months before I had progression. Since then I have tried 2 additional Targeted therapies with no luck. I am currently being treated with Chemotherapy and doing well however, the only options available after this at this time are clinical trials.
It's only a matter of time before I will need a new treatment plan. That's why it is so important that we raise more funds for research. We need to find more treatment options so those of us living with this disease have more options and a better life expectancy.
I know one thing for sure, I am not ready to die anytime soon. I want more time with my family and friends I have so much more I want to do. This is where I need your help.
Together, with your help, we will walk to raise awareness and funds to defeat lung cancer and raise our voices for lung health.
That's why I have decided to participate in the LUNG FORCE Walk. When you join the American Lung Association and LUNG FORCE, you support research innovation that will lead to early detection for all and better treatments that give everyone a fighting chance.
Your donation and participation will help make a difference in the lives that desperately need it.
