Thank you for visiting JustBreatheForHolly. I've signed up for the LUNG FORCE Walk to make a difference in the lives of people impacted by lung disease. I have been looking forward to this event for the last year or so and I greatly appreciate your support. Our collective efforts will help raise awareness and funds to protect lung health.
Your donation and participation, will help support the American Lung Association's research innovation, which leads to early detection for all and better treatments that give everyone a fighting chance.
Holly Haynes- momma to my sister- Heidi, my brother- Myles, and myself. She was one of the most selfless and resilient women that we knew. She made a difference in the world with her smile and compassion for others. Our mom was diagnosed with COPD at a very young age. For those of you who are not familiar, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. Breathing is something that many of us consider to be involuntary. It is the ebb and flow that gives us life. For our mom, breathing did not appear to come as easy. With treatments and monitoring the disease, our mom did the best she could to live life to the fulles. She would never let COPD take away her love for music festivals, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Unfortunately, in September of 2018, our mom became very sick. She was intubated and underwent a tracheostomy procedure, hoping to help wean her off the ventilator. In early October, our mom was able to breathe on her own. She felt encouraged and determined to fight. For four months, our mom battled with the many ups and downs of COPD. On February 6th, 2019 our mom lost that battle. Although she is no longer with us, she lives in each individual who's life she impacted. "JustBreatheForHolly" will come together as a team to use our lungs, our breath, and our positivity to complete this virtual walk/run/bike to honor and remember Holly's life.
