I've signed up to be a LUNG FORCE Hero for the Sunset Soirée 2023 to make a difference in the lives of people impacted by lung cancer & Lung disease. My name is Stacey, I want to thank you for reading my page and helping me to fight for a cure, for Lung cancer & Lung disease.

This is my 3rd year being invited to be a Lung Force Hero. That means to me, bringing hope to a disease that in my eyes needs so much more attention & education. Through awareness we can help spread these two words , early detection . I can’t stress this enough, a simple CT scan saved my life. Yes, I am a Lung Cancer surviver, 3 years in remission.

Diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma, stage 2b Lung Cancer in Oct of 2019. I went from a very healthy 60 year old woman & working as a dental assistant at the time. My life changed forever ! I had a lobectomy in Dec , followed by 4 months of grueling chemotherapy. I’m now in remission. I had no symptoms at all. I was turning 60 and wanted to make sure my heart was okay. My Father passed away at age 61 & I wanted to be pro active. My family needs me . I had a CT calcium score test done of my heart. I thought if something was wrong it would be my heart. Never would I think my lungs. I received the call the next morning, I was told my heart was perfect . However , they found a mass on my lower left lobe of my lung. I was in shock ! I did what I was told, to go see a pulmonologist . I did just that the next morning . I brought my husband, brother & best friend with me. That’s when I heard those words no one ever wants to hear , you have malignancy. I said CANCER. The room went blank for a moment and the Dr. said yes. Please donate and help us with continued research, early detection & awareness.

Be your own advocate, if you are a former smoker, have had second-hand smoke or environmental get a CT scan of your lungs. It’s $99 dollars, no insurance needed and done at all Memorial Hospitals . It’s that easy !!! Don’t wait until you have symptoms . By then it’s usually to late . You only have one life . I’m living proof of early detection.
