No one should struggle to breathe. That is why I am walking in the Lung Force Run/Walk. Did you know that lung cancer is on the rise in women? And that it kills more women every year than breast, colon, prostate, and melanoma combined?
I am a VERY lucky 24 year lung cancer survivor. I was lucky my lung cancer was discovered (through luck, only) early. Most people are not as lucky. The "model" in the photo is my friend Lisa. She lost her lung cancer battle more than seven years ago. She was there for me when I was in treatment. Losing her was hard for all of us who loved her. I have lost several other friends since then. Lung cancer often takes people too young and too quickly.
But there is HOPE! Genomic tumor testing is yielding better results with less hideous treatments. But, we need more research and we need better forms of early detection.
Everyone with lungs needs clean air, adequate healthcare, and more research into the causes, detection methods, and cures for all kinds of lung diseases. Everyone with lung cancer deserves a fighting chance!
Please either join me and register for the run/walk or make a generous donation to the American Lung Association to support LUNG FORCE and help eliminate lung cancer.
