What is LUNG FORCE Turquoise Takeover?
Did you know that lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the US?
Despite its undeniable impact on our nation, this disease often remains in the shadows. It is estimated that about 235,000 Americans will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year, yet survey data reveals that only 28% of respondents were aware of the daunting statistics around lung cancer. Additionally, only 4.5% of those at highest risk for lung cancer are getting screened.
However, there is hope.
The South Florida LUNG FORCE Turquoise Takeover is a multi-month campaign, which kicks off in November for Lung Cancer Awareness month and culminates in the celebration of Lung Cancer Action week (Turquoise Takeover Week) in May. Numerous community events, and memorable awareness activities will be hosted throughout the season. Additionally, every dollar raised this season will be matched by local sponsors! Help us unlock the match by making a donation or joining the fundraising effort as an Ambassador.
The survival rate has increased by over 50% in the past decade and awareness of this deadly disease has steadily increased. Greater awareness of lung cancer is key to securing research funding, encouraging lung cancer screening and reducing the stigma around this disease.
Turquoise Takeover is the awareness effort designed to advance this goal!
