l'm an Attorney-Mediator-Arbitrator, living, working, and playing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the last 18 years. Eight years ago, I lost my mother to lung cancer. When my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer, we thought we’d have more time with her. She was a fighter and chemotherapy bought us more time, but lung cancer fought back, and it returned for a second time. It was during her second bout with this devastating disease that we were told she’d have 5-8 years to live, but unfortunately that timeline would never come to fruition.
After developing pulmonary fibrosis during chemotherapy, she was not properly educated on the significance of her auto-immune deficiencies, and a simple shingles shot led to chicken pox, which led to a deadly case of pneumonia, which ultimately took my mother’s life. We only had 3 years with her. After losing my mother 8 years ago, and seeing the effects of Pulmonary Fibrosis, along with the devastating impact that my mother's disease had on our family, it became my personal mission to drive awareness for Lung Cancer and Lung Disease. Through my involvement with the Host Committee of the LUNG FORCE Sunset Soiree over the last few years, a signature fundraising event of the American Lung Association in South Florida, I have strived to make lung cancer a cause people care about, drive policy change, and increase research funding. Ultimately, I know together we can all save lives by helping the American Lung Association and create a world where future families don’t have to go through what my family did.
Your donation and participation will help support the American Lung Association's research innovation, which leads to early detection for all and better treatments that give everyone a fighting chance.
Be a part of the FORCE to defeat lung cancer and COVID-19 one step at a time. Together, we can bring lung cancer out of the darkness and into the light by turning South Florida TURQUOISE!
