On March 20, 2019, I lost my wife, soulmate, and one true love for the past 23 years to lung cancer. Diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer and PEs on March 9, Karen was not given a chance to fight as she was taken from us and those she loved and cared for 11 days later.
I believe she would be alive today if early screenings were in place as they are with mammograms for women over 40 and colonoscopies for people over 50. There are no questionnaires, boxes to check, and hoops to straddle, unlike the criteria in place for Lung Cancer screening. Yet, Lung Cancer is the #1 cancer worldwide, striking men and women including non-smokers. Help me snuff out Lung Cancer.
Lung Cancer is the #1 cancer killer of both men and women. Together, with your help, we will walk to raise awareness and funds to defeat lung cancer and raise our voices for lung health. When you join the American Lung Association and LUNG FORCE, you support research innovation that will lead to early detection for all and better treatments that give everyone a fighting chance.
I hope you will join me in the LUNG FORCE Walk at Roger Williams Park on June 13 to support the American Lung Association and my journey in Karen’s memory.
Thank you! Janet
