Thank you for visiting my page. I'm here to make a difference in the lives of people impacted by lung cancer and lung disease.
As most of you know, my mom died on February 1st of this year from lung cancer. Her battle was very short, but it was the most painful and emotional experience my family has ever been through. When you or a family is diagnosed with cancer the first question is usually how much time do I/They have. Unfortunately, we knew her diagnosis was terminal, but we didn't know we would only have 2 months with her and most of that time would be spent either in the hospital in Boston or in a rehabilitation center.
My mother smoked for the majority of her life so the diagnosis, although devastating, wasn't surprising. Although in true Margie fashion, she did tell an ER doctor to prove to her that smoking gave her cancer.
On February 1st at 10am, I watched my mother take her last breath. Laid before me was a shell of what once was my mother. It is one moment in time that I replay in my head over and over again.
As a result, I've decided I need to do something to help find a way to eradicate lung cancer. No person nor family should ever have to have such an arduous battle. The most dangerous cancer for both men and woman is lung cancer accounting for 21% of deaths each year.
Being a part of LUNG FORCE is about supporting those in need and saving lives by funding innovative research and early detection initiatives. My mother had a persistent cough that her doctor said was a viral infection. Little did we know that this is a sign and symptom of lung cancer. If we had known, we would have pushed for a Cat Scan or MRI sooner and would not have waited until she went to the hospital for a backache.
I would greatly appreciate your support.
Your donation today turns small steps into bold strides toward a world free of lung cancer and lung disease.
Thank you.
