TEAM JOANNE In 2004, my sister, Joanne, was diagnosed with emphysema and put on an oxygen tank. She was then diagnosed with lung cancer in March 2014 and passed away in June 2014 at age 58.
Despite her challenges, my sister remained positive. She never said, 'poor me' or 'why me,' it was always, 'I'm going to fight this.'
One misconception about lung cancer is that you have to smoke to get it, yet anyone can be diagnosed with the disease. Bryan and I joined the LUNG FORCE movement to raise awareness that nobody deserves lung cancer and to break the stigma.
My sister Joanne Souto would be in shock about how many people joined Team Joanne last year and honored her at the 2015 Walk. She would be in awe with all this support. She was never the type of person to expect anything from anyone, so I know this would make her happy.
Please consider contributing towards our teams efforts!
