Amanda Martinez, MPH, is currently Training Program Manager for Mental Health America of Hawaiʻi (MHAH). Since 2017, she has trained thousands of youth and adults in Hawaiʻi with MHAH’s Youth Suicide and Bullying Prevention and mental wellness trainings. She is also a certified trainer for Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings. Amanda received her Master’s in Public Health Degree from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, specializing in Social and Behavioral Health Sciences. She is interested in mental health wellness promotion among youth and young adults, especially among sexual and gender minorities.
Much like mental health, the importance of lung health awareness has been highlighted over the past few years. My grandfather passed away from lung cancer and I think smoking/vaping cessation programs are needed for our youth and within the LGBTQ+ communities. I am honored to be a part of an organization that champions lung health for the state.
