Dr. Goto has been an advocate for over 30 years to improve access to health care and social services. She has worked on legislation and campaigns relating to unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, legislation to improve access to emergency contraception, expedited partner therapy, tobacco control, physical activity and nutrition, and domestic violence. In addition, she worked to pass legislation to fund and initiate maternal mortality review, which serves to improve maternal health through prevention of morbidity and mortality. Dr. Goto sits on the Board of Directors of the Hawaiʻi Medical Association and is a past president of the Association.
Dr. Goto is pleased to support the American Lung Association in Hawaiʻi as a Turquoise Ambassador. She strongly supports raising funds to conduct research relevant to the coronavirus epidemic and develop a vaccine to prevent further spread of this virus across the globe. As a healthcare provider who has worked on tobacco control and prevention programs, she knows we need organizations such as the American Lung Association to promote a healthy environment and lifestyle for our community. Dr. Goto believes the prevention of lung disease and the amelioration of conditions such as asthma and tuberculosis are especially important for us in Hawaiʻi.
