
Valerie brings an enthusiasm for living a healthy, holistic life along with background experience in human resources management and marketing. She is passionate about promoting supportive work cultures. From a career ranging in industries including, hospital, restaurant and hospitality, she joined UHA Health Insurance in 2009 and is responsible for the development and initiatives of workplace wellness solutions for Hawaii employer groups. She manages Hawai‘i Health at Work Alliance (HH@WA), a UHA company. HH@WA brings together like-minded organizations with the singular purpose of helping Hawaii communities achieve healthy and active lifestyles. UHA and HH@WA workplace wellness achievements have been recognized by both local and national organizations.
Valerie enjoys an active role in the community serving as Leadership Board Member, American Lung Association; and Chair, Worksite, Industry and Business Sector for the Hawaii Physical Activity and Nutrition Plan 2020 (PAN).
Valerie is a National Wellness Institute Certified Worksite Wellness Program Manager and Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in fashion merchandising from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. When not managing workplace wellness initiatives, Valerie enjoys spending time with her family and dog, traveling, hiking, yoga and cross-functional training.
Originally, Valerie was inspired to help the Lung Association for her sister, Eleanor Grace, who passed away from non-small cell lung cancer. She helped instill strength and positivity among fellow cancer fighters and supporters. To carry on her legacy, Valerie works with the Lung Association to provide hope for people with lung cancer and other respiratory diseases so they can live and thrive!
