Sterling Yee is the director of Strategic Consulting Services at Oceanit, a science and technology, and management and engineering consulting firm headquartered in Honolulu. He is responsible for overseeing management and engineering consulting projects and overall business development. Some of the clients he has worked with include the State of Hawaii, the City & County of Honolulu and other private industry clients. His recent project experiences include IT systems implementation and the organizational change management (OCM) efforts for the State of Hawaii business transformation initiatives. His most recent project is working with the Asian Development Bank in Manila to develop new projects in Southeast Asia to improve infrastructure, education and health in an effort to decrease poverty and raise the standards of living.
Prior to Oceanit, Yee served as the Chief Operating Officer of La Pietra – Hawaii School of Girls, where he was responsible for the school’s finance and accounting, information technology (IT), and physical facilities. His most significant accomplishment is the 25 percent growth of the endowment in the three years he was there. Prior to that Yee was the General Auditor of Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc. Reporting to the Board of Directors, his auditing activities included Hawaiian Electric Industries and its subsidiaries: Hawaiian Electric Company, Maui Electric Company, Hawaii Electric Light, American Savings Bank and others, including foreign subsidiaries. In 2012, he was appointed by the State of Hawaii’s Legislature to help guide the development of Hawaii’s information technology standards and policies as a member of the State IT Steering Committee.
