The American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE initiative unites America to raise critical awareness of lung cancer, the nation’s leading cause of cancer deaths, during Turquoise Takeover and Lung Cancer Action Week (May 6-12, 2024). Each May, we work with landmarks and buildings across the U.S. to turn the nation turquoise to raise awareness for lung cancer, raise funds and inspire Americans to take action to prevent lung cancer and detect it earlier. This year, we are celebrating 10 years of lifesaving education, advocacy and research through the LUNG FORCE initiative.

While the lung cancer survival rate has increased by over 50% over the past decade, there is still more work to be done. It is estimated that in 2024 alone, there will be over 11,200 new lung cancer diagnosis in Pennsylvania.

Each year, we turn the nation turquoise and tell the stories of those impacted by lung cancer to change the public’s perception about the disease and help save more lives.
